چکیده
The study area pertains to the Chocó Biogeography, one of most biodiverse areas in world, where around 40,000 ha rainforest has been cleared for oil palm plantations. We surveyed ant species’ richness and diversity four differently disturbed Tumaco, Colombia, using pitfall traps Winkler sacks. Study sites were two plantations three- seven- years’ existence, a peach plantation Bactris gasipaes 20 years, an secondary forest 10 years. A total 93 species or morphospecies, comprising 31 genera 8 subfamilies identified. subfamily Myrmicinae had highest number (57), followed by Ponerinae (10) Formicinae (9). hybrid harbored 46 (7 years) 50 (3 years), respectively, while was composed 53 species, 62 species. Ectatomma ruidum dominant plots (≥ 80% specimen), but significantly less forest. species-rich Pheidole spp. (23) Solenopsis (13). No differences observed between palm, contrasting with significant areas. comparison studies natural suggests that monocultures have dramatically reduced ten years recovery does not bring back anything close original diversity.

متن کاملThree new species and reassessment of the rare Neotropical ant genus Leptanilloides (Hymenoptera, Formicidae, Leptanilloidinae)
We describe three new species of the Neotropical ant genus Leptanilloides: Leptanilloides gracilissp. n. based on workers from Mexico and Guatemala, Leptanilloides erinyssp. n. based on workers and a gyne from Ecuador, and Leptanilloides femoralissp. n. based on workers from Venezuela. The description of Leptanilloides gracilis is a northern extension of the known range of the genus, now number...
متن کاملDominant Ant Species in Four Habitats in Hawaii (Hymenoptera: Formicidae)
The Hawaiian Islands represent one of the few ecosystems in the world that lacks native ants and thus represents a unique environment in which to study invasion biology. In the course of a study of behavioral interactions among invasive ant species, we collected the most abundant ants from four different field sites on the islands of Oahu and Hawaii. One year after the original collections, we ...
متن کاملDiversity of the ground-dwelling ant fauna (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) of a moist, Montane forest of the semi-arid Brazilian "Nordeste".
Although the so called "green islands" of the semi-arid Brazilian "Nordeste" are economically, socially, and ecologically important. relatively little is known about their biodiversity. We present the results of the first survey of the ground-dwelling ant fauna of a secondary forest in the Serra de Baturité (4 degrees 05'-4 degrees 40' S / 38 degrees 30'-39 degrees 10' W), among the biggest of ...
متن کاملRichness and structure of ant assemblies (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) in Atlantic forest in southern Brazil.
Ant diversity is influenced by the structural complexity of the environment. Ants are thus an ecologically important group due to their potential to serve as indicators of environmental quality. The objective of this study was to evaluate ant diversity in areas with different land use histories and thus, within different stages of regeneration in the Permanent Preservation Area of the Foz do Ch...
